Notes
Patterns 9058 and 9069 (and a pattern on a Paris jug marked 9036) appear to be identical. All recorded examples carry various backstamps expected of the period (though mostly H4) and many carry the pattern name BROCADE. Sometimes Gray’s Pottery used a different number for the same pattern with a different edge line – gold perhaps instead of, say, yellow. This is not the case for 9058 and 9069, all recorded examples of which carry a yellow edge line. Why there are two numbers for an identical pattern remains a mystery.
