Notes
This entirely freehand-painted bowl has the internal inscription A & L Coles 1902 1927 surrounding the coat-of-arms of Manchester, England. The base has one of the signatures of Susie Cooper, together with a seven-sided rebus and the number 1927. This number almost certainly refers to the date rather than, as would be expected, the pattern number. Research has not yet revealed the purpose of this fine commemorative pot.
