This pattern is one of several decorative lustre designs of the period where the entire decoration is covered in a translucent mother-of-pearl glaze giving an overall iridescent effect.

A pattern known to have been exhibited at the 1924 British Empire Exhibition. The painter’s mark on the bowl shown is an ‘R’ within an ‘H’ and is one of the marks of Roland Heath, the only known male decorator at Gray’s Pottery.
