Notes
The painter’s mark on the plaque shown is an ‘L’ within an ‘H’ and is one of the marks of Hilda (May) Lockett, one of the most accomplished decorators at Gray’s Pottery.
This pattern is one of several decorative lustre designs of the period where the entire decoration is covered in a translucent mother-of-pearl glaze giving an overall iridescent effect. Additionally, the footring is painted in lustre, a characteristic of many of Gray’s special lustre products.
