Notes
Unsurprisingly, many recorded examples of this pattern have various versions of the Gray’s/Susie Cooper Liner backstamp: references D3 and D8. However, 7671 pots with backstamps H4 (second galleon) and N1 (Clipper) have been recorded, both having the name GOLDEN CATKIN printed alongside.
The fourth image, of a lidded vegetable dish, has backstamp N6 (Clipper), in use from 1948-61, suggesting that it was either made as a replacement for a broken pot under the company’s Matchings service or, possibly, that it was a special order – it seems unlikely that this design continued in regular production for over 20 years.
