Notes

The parallel-sided, flat-topped canister/storage jar shown here is made of stoneware and was likely sourced undecorated from Pearson of Chesterfield. It is an unusual shape in that it has a small section cut out of the lid, probably to facilitate the inclusion of a spoon.

This pot is 75mm/3″ diameter and 95mm/3¾” high. Similar pots, but having ‘plain’ lids, ie no cut-outs, have been recorded in three other sizes: 75mm/3” diameter x 100mm/4” high; 95mm/3¾” x 120mm/4¾”; 110mm/4½” x 150mm/6”. See patterns A289 and A290 for examples.
