Notes
This is probably the first design used by Gray’s Pottery on a tobacco jar/humidor, the supplier of which is unknown though likely to be a Derbyshire potter such as Pearson of Chesterfield.
It is also probably the first pattern to incorporate an ‘antique’ verse, a feature which became commonplace for patterns destined for export to North America in the late 1940s and early-to-mid-1950s.
