Over the life of the company, Gray’s Pottery produced a wide range of resist lustre designs (see the website section Patterns, Classification, Lustre, Copper lustre).
The 1925 pattern number 5229 is an example of an early copper/bronze resist pattern and A8670 continues the tradition, using a regular motif for Gray’s Pottery, the grapevine.
Several copper/bronze resist patterns were duplicated in silver lustre: for A8670 it was A8669.

In addition to a June 1949 article in Pottery and Glass showing exhibits from the 1949 British Industries Fair, the same magazine featured pattern A8670 in June 1952, using the same photograph.
