The upper box, with a blue 1951 Festival of Britain symbol under the lid, is marked A9038/1, the lower box, with a green symbol, is marked A9038/2. This is one of many examples where Gray’s Pottery used suffixes with a pattern number in order to indicate a colour variation of the same basic pattern.
