This is the first recorded pattern with a Portmeirion print. The image in the roundel is similar to that used on Ashtead Pottery pots in the 1930s. Details of this, and an image of a Castle jug decorated with pattern A9476, are to be found in Portmeirion Pottery by Steven Jenkins and Stephen P McKay, Richard Dennis 2000.
