This Sylvan-produced shape is one of three known to have been designed to hold a clockwork musical movement in its base – perhaps made by the Swiss companies Gueissaz or Thorens. Using a simple lever mechanism, the tune stops when the tankard is placed on a flat surface.
The verse on the reverse is 2V, The Sailors Farewell (see the Prints & Verses, Verses section).
