Notes
Four different prints have been recorded for this pattern: G.P.FOURTEEN, NATIONAL FIREFLY, ENTERPRISE and NATIONAL 12-FOOT DINGHY CLASS.
A pattern sold by the London retailer Henry Jones: the square ashtray has the retailer’s mark alongside the Gray’s backstamp: ‘Designed for, Henry Jones & Co Ltd, St Paul’s Churchyard, London’. Additionally, the ashtray is marked pattern D1861/3 (the suffix perhaps indicating several prints in a series).
The dish and the tankard in the last two images have no pattern number marked.
The tankard in the last image has a Portmeirion backstamp (reference V2) suggesting the design continued in production in the early years of the creation of Portmeirion Pottery.
Several of the pots recorded for this design suggest bespoke production for various yachting/sailing clubs in England.
