Notes
This is an early example of a Gray’s pattern being produced in a variety of ‘colourways’, each having a distinct number. There are examples shown in the last image: 593 – deep blue (bottom right), 1160 – light blue (bottom left), 2614 – purple, 2615 – pink (top right), 2616 – green (top left).
Six different bird prints have been recorded on plates of this pattern: see three examples in the fourth image and another two in the last image. Generally speaking, the prints on smaller items, such as the cups and jug, are cropped versions of the large prints.
The cream jug has no pattern number.
A pattern sold by the London retailer T Goode & Co.
