Notes
Three inn prints have been recorded for this pattern: The Jolly Waggoner, Wayside Inn and Ye Olde Jug Inn. The use of these, and other images of ancient inns on various designs such as The Barley Mow, is confusing to say the least: see pattern A8654.
Many of the pots recorded have been in the USA, where Gray’s splashed lustre designs seemed to have been especially popular in the late 1940s and through into the early 1950s.
The trio of small, differently-sized, jugs in the last image were known as ‘Castle’ jugs at Gray’s Pottery: see the website section Retailers, North America – USA, Skinners for more information on these jugs.
