Notes
Over the life of the company, Gray’s Pottery produced a wide range of resist lustre designs (see the website section Patterns, Classification, Lustre, Copper lustre).
The 1925 pattern number 5229 is an example of an early copper/bronze resist pattern and A8668 continues the tradition, with the addition of some enamel colour, in this case red and green.
In addition to the August 1949 Pottery Gazette and Glass Trade Review feature ‘Designed for Export’ (last image), pattern A8668 featured in a June 1949 edition of the same magazine showing exhibits from the 1949 British Industries Fair.
The sixth image is of a shallow lidded box, usually considered to be a box for cigarettes.
The penultimate image is of a breakfast-in-bed set (and which has no pattern number marked): see the website section Ware Suppliers, Futura Art Pottery for more information on these sets.
